UB FIGG - Visiting Associate

Job purpose and background


We are looking to hire a Visiting Associate to join the UB Forest Industry Green Growth Fund (UB FIGG) team for summer 2025. The position is based in Helsinki at UB FIGG’s Aleksanterinkatu office. The duration and timing of the employment will be agreed upon together with the successful candidate, while we anticipate the start date to be around early June.


UB FIGG is a private equity fund investing in companies focused on plastic and other fossil

based material replacements, higher value and more efficient use of wood and agricultural

raw material side streams and greater use of these raw materials across a wide range of

intermediate and end uses. The fund started its operations in January 2023 with over EUR

100m in investment commitments.


Through its investments, the Fund helps the forest and bio-based industries to create solu-

tions to mitigate climate change. UB FIGG is a signatory of Operating Principles for Impact Management and reports on the environmental and climate impact of its investments. Key responsibilities


• Involvement in all stages of investment sourcing and management, according to possibilities

• Participate in meetings with potential investees, advisors, and other stakeholders

• Prepare cash flow and returns analyses as part of the screening process of new investment opportunities

• Monitoring and development of portfolio companies

• Analyse investment opportunities and market trends

• Assist in the preparation of investment committee papers and other internal or external presentations

• Participate in due diligence processes regarding potential investments, according to possibilities


Requirements


• Completed internship within private equity, venture capital, investment banking,

management consulting or equivalent. Several completed internships considered an advantage

• At minimum 2 years of studies with excellent grades from a reputable university. A field such as finance, accounting, engineering, mathematics or equivalent is preferred

• Exceptional motivation and commitment to perform the required duties

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Excellent written and spoken skills in English. Finnish, Swedish and German skills considered an advantage
